It would behoove us in this day that God has called us to put to the test the effectiveness of our methods. I am not talking about methods in regards to new "thing-a-ma-giggies" but our style of communication.

Where to we see the example of Christ (other than in the temple throwing out the money changers) bashing sinners over the head with the Gospel (a.k.a. The Good News)? We do however see Him sitting down to dinner with them, we do see him instructing them in love with grace on how to live a fruitful life.

How else can we win the lost? Does it have to be with hellfire and brimestone? Does this mean we do not teach or preach about the "hard" subjects? Absolutely not! But we should give consideration to HOW we deliver this message.

Thanks for your blog, it is always good to entertain the thoughts and opinions of others in ministry. This contributes to the development of a well balanced approach to our world.

God Bless!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22211217.post-32761732129998311282007-04-22T16:20:00.000-05:002007-04-22T16:20:00.000-05:00Your comment, "It almost appeared as if they had l...Your comment, "It almost appeared as if they had literal regard for the so-called wounded self-esteem of men. In fact, they thought that the more wounded a man was the better his chance of moving to an altar of change." is intrigueing Bro. Harrelson. If we as a people could truly grasp hold of the idea that "I must decrease..", and submit one to another and allow ourselves to be taken down a notch or two when necessary, then the work of the Kingdom would be much furthered. Could it be that men of old did not regard themselves as well as we regard ourselves? Did they seek to be the oracle of God without regard for building a name for themselves?Terry Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00123433640913454192noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22211217.post-91459997074242439462007-04-12T22:48:00.000-05:002007-04-12T22:48:00.000-05:00Tremendous post, This is the only blog I read... Thus, many times I have sat through a service and no altar call was given to repent. Folks were not told how to come to the Lord. This was in our own UPC churches.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22211217.post-47644845367267104502007-04-05T13:28:00.000-05:002007-04-05T13:28:00.000-05:00Thank you for yet another excellent article. It seems that people are looking for someone to tell them what they want to hear. Moreover, I am burdened to strive to present the truth. Our ministry serves the elderly and the afflicted. We hold regular services at the health care centers here in the Houston / Galveston Texas area. I am astonished by what some "shows" are presented as the Gospel. We are talking about the Gospel. This is the Word of God that we bring. A lot of the folks in our Worship Services come there in wheel chairs and some require help even then. BUT, the spirit of the Lord, the Holy Ghost ministers to those dear souls through the truth of the Word of God. I as well as my Deacons know that if we are not in the Spirit and being led by the Sprit, all is for nought. These "emerging" churches, sending out the message that "you can have it today" "you can have it now" What is it that they are truly telling. ? The only thing that is important is that you can have Salvation Today. You can Repent Today. You can Worship and Praise God today. We pray, that Our Most Wonderful Heavenly Father open the eyes of those who are committing these acts of cruelty against man-kind, that they may be forgiven. I so enjoy hearing others that are truly concerned about the Truth of the Gospel. Twisting God's precious Word, is such a heart-breaking thing. The people who look to us, as ministers, deserve no less than the Truth about Our God. His Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Blessing of the Holy Spirit being with us, within us, is truly the "Good News" Thank you for this posting, Brother. And pray for us and our ministry. You see, lots of our "flock" are very old, and can barely see. We strive to feed them as Jesus instructed, with the Truth.
God Bless,
John SwatsellAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22211217.post-5472748506997076612007-04-05T00:07:00.000-05:002007-04-05T00:07:00.000-05:00AWESOME!
